چکیده

A very large decrease in the Stokes shift in CdSe nanoparticle (NP) photoluminescence is seen from hybrid materials in which the NPs are attached to single-walled carbon nanotubes after pyridine treatment relative to unbound NPs capped by pyridine. This is observed particularly for very small NPs, for hybrids composed of core-only and core-shell NPs, and for hybrids made with bundles of mixtures of semiconducting and metallic nanotubes or with semiconducting nanotubes only and is likely due to fast Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) from the NPs to the nanotubes. A simple model demonstrates the plausibility of the hot luminescence explanation of this decreased Stokes shift.

Optical characterization of DNA-wrapped carbon nanotube hybrids

Optical characterization of DNA-wrapped CoMoCAT carbon nanotube hybrids (DNA–CNT) and semiconductor-enriched DNA–CNT was carried out using resonant Raman spectroscopy (RRS) and photoluminescence (PL) experiments. The values of radial breathing modes frequency xRBM were found to be relatively insensitive to the type of wrapping agents surrounding the nanotube. The values of xRBM and the first an...

Efficient near-infrared up-conversion photoluminescence in carbon nanotubes

Photoluminescence phenomena normally obey Stokes' law of luminescence according to which the emitted photon energy is typically lower than its excitation counterparts. Here we show that carbon nanotubes break this rule under one-photon excitation conditions. We found that the carbon nanotubes exhibit efficient near-infrared photoluminescence upon photoexcitation even at an energy lying >100-200...

Versatile formation of CdSe nanoparticle-single walled carbon nanotube hybrid structures.

Pyridine-protected CdSe nanoparticles decorated SWNTs spontaneously, producing a large loading of CdSe nanoparticles on the SWNTs. The absorption spectrum of this hybrid material reflects those of the components. CdSe nanoparticles of different diameters, core-shell nanoparticles, and nanorods were shown to decorate SWNTs this way, showing the versatility of this technique.
